Let me start by saying that if you want to truly practice aiming, then you should play a game like Quake Live which demands that you aim in a variety of different ways to take advantage of both the different weaponry and different ways you might encounter enemies. Few games can provide you with the same amount of variety in aiming, and I have found that it’s an effective way of strengthening my aim in other games. It has both taught me good habits and helped to reinforce them, and is probably the only reason I feel at all comfortable about writing this article. It has taught me the importance of setting my sensitivity to a value that works for my play style and that gaming mice are indeed a little better for gaming than regular mice. With this article I am attempting to write out all of what I’ve learned about aiming from playing Quake, but I will mention other games as well. (more…)
After writing a lagview of Metro 2033, reading the book, and recording a let’s play, I was pretty excited to finally get a chance to sit down and play through Metro Last Light. However, the game had a different idea. The game would run silky smooth one moment, and then lag atrociously the next. And I mean… just unplayable. I did some research and it appeared to be related to the fact I have an AMD video card. So I did the usual things, played with the settings, installed new drivers, etc. Nothing worked. So, I read a bunch of forums and started looking a little deeper. And, actually, I think I’ve fixed it. And the solution is pretty damn simple! I hope that it’s this simple for others as well, which is why I’m posting it. It seems to have worked for a few people so hopefully it works for you too! And if not, well… sorry.
The second most fundamental skill in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive which you will want to become familiar with is shooting. In this second article of our Noob’s Guide to CS: GO, I will help you to explore how to the guns work and highlight things you should consider while firing your weapon. I will also try my best to explain moving and shooting, and why you’re often far better off not trying to move and shoot at the same time. Like the first article, I won’t (and can’t) describe every situation, but my hope is that I can help give you a good foundation, with which you can fill in the gaps after gaining some more experience.
